Overview

She is talking to generally healthy people looking for energy and prevention, and her strongest personal evidence is a metabolic one. His strongest claims are about people with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions who have not responded to other approaches. They are not describing the same patient, and pretending they are would mislead in both directions.

Where they agree

Both eliminate ultra-processed food entirely and both reject calorie counting as the organizing principle. Both make an eat-until-satisfied argument. Both are describing whole-diet commitments, not tweaks.

What would settle it

A long-duration randomized comparison of whole-diet patterns with hard endpoints, which does not exist and is not going to. Failing that: better cohort data on the specific deficits each pattern produces, and on adherence beyond five years.
